About Me

My photo
An artist, illustrator and designer. I studied Graphic Design at Middlesex University and later Visual Communication at the University of Central England. “In the early part of my career as a graphic designer the art of developing symbols and logos developed my ability to condense a number of ideas into a simple visual language,” said Kathleen. Her graphic symbolic approach allows us the space to focus on a spontaneous quality of line, For Kathleen her painting is a form of meditation that leaves her vital and centred. Echoes of Japanese, Aboriginal, Arabic and Central American reflect the journeying of the artist, who lived and worked in Hong Kong for eleven years and travelled extensively. She now lives and works in north-west London.

Inner Space - May 25th – 4th June

Inner Space

Featured Artist Skylark 2 Gallery. May 25th – 4th June

My work explores inner landscapes. Images emerge through meditation and observation and everyday life.

Zen and Taoism inspire me. I strive to distil ideas and visualizations to their simplest essence, relying upon the spontaneity to express emotion. This graphic, symbolic approach allows the space to focus.

I enjoy doing personal commissions and illustrations, each work is a unique challenge. kathleenduttonblogspot.com Previous commissions; Conran Design Group, Nomura Investment Company (Japan). The Trade Development Council (Hong Kong), K2 Design (Japan), The Seer, Chelsea and Westminster Council.
